Two reasons: 1) intestinal health is crucial to your overall health and physical well being and 2) because colorectal (colon) cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in the United States.
Consider these statistics from the U.S. Cancer Statistics Working Group. In the report, U.S. Cancer Statistics: 1999-2005 Incidence and Mortality Web-based Report, researchers found in 2005 that:
- 72,007 men and 69,398 women were diagnosed with colorectal or colon cancer
- 26,781 men and 26,224 women actually died from colorectal cancer
In 2009, according to the National Cancer Institute, a sub-group of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, said that the estimated new cases of colon or colorectal cancer in the U.S. alone is 106,100 and 40,870 for rectal cancer and that there will be an estimated 49,920 colon and rectal cancer-related deaths combined!
Undoubtedly, some of that information will vary as it is a mathematically contrived estimate but the point is made as to the necessity of intestinal cleansing with the dangers of colon cancer and intestinal health.
The problem actually goes deeper, though. While not everyone will get either colon cancer or rectal cancer, nevertheless, a full 95% to 98% of all people you meet from every country, race, gender, orientation, religion or what have you, possess some kind of limited or abnormal or unhealthy colon and intestinal tract! Perhaps now you can see why a cleanse is so important.
That is not an exaggerated number.
“How could this be?” you ask? Easy — it’s due to the western diet and overeating. While I have been to many, many countries, I’ve only lived in two, Korea and the U.S., so I can personally testify to what I’ve seen. As a native-born American, I know firsthand how bad the American diet is.
While in Korea for two years, I saw how unhealthy the Korean diet was as well, which wasn’t a surprise for while Koreans love their own endemic foods, they mirror unhealthy American diet habits.
The Western Diet and Your Colon
Continuing, a fundamental problem with the western diet is that it is high in fat, low in fiber (a vital key to good intestinal and colon health) and high in processed foods. Americans also consume too much protein and eat an astonishingly high amount of animal products, especially meat.
Red meat is high in uric acid, which contributes to gout, but this is only part of the problem. Meat doesn’t have any fiber in it. Red meat may have protein, iron and Vitamin B12, but its positive elements are overwhelmed by what it lacks and what it does to the human intestinal tract.
Regular meat eaters are literally carrying around pounds and pounds of old fecal matter from the meat they have consumed. The toxins alone from this macabre mess is significant and I’ve not even mentiioned the other foods we eat that cause severe constipation and colon clogging.
We eat meat of all kind, cookies, doughnuts, ice cream, processed dinners, chocolate, chips and pretzels. We drink way too much coffee, too many sodas, and too many alcoholic beverages.
Most westerns over eat (and over drink) and not surprisingly weight gain is a problem. Weight loss is an entire industry unto itself and your colon health is inextricably linked to your health, weight gain or weight loss included.
Colon Cleansing And You
If concern for your colon and intestinal health brought you here, it’s probably due to some ailment or interest related in some way to your intestinal health.
Intestinal problems include acne, candida, constipation and a lack of energy, but it can also be manifested by love handles, excessive fat around the stomach (some researchers believe this is the body’s system for protecting the intestinal walls although this is debatable), bad breath, protruding lower stomach, and diminishing girth in passed excrement.
Your colon or intestinal tract is your body’s sewage system. The colon is an organ that indirectly and directly affects all the other organs in the body.
When it’s not working efficiently, the liver causes the kidney’s to not work in an optimum fashion either. Let’s take it back a step further, when your intestinal walls are clogged with old fecal matter or mucoid plaque, this harms the bloodstream for in the blood is the river of life.
Cleansing your blood and your colon should go hand-in-hand, but they rarely do — a secret I learned that most cleanse experts never discuss. It’s something you almost never hear about with master cleanse articles.
Let me be candid: the colon for the vast majority of us, is in a massively unhealthy state. It is filled with mucoid plaque and toxins. Most have severely clogged colons, chronic constipation and protroding colons and stomachs.
